National Science Centers Initiative Holds Its First Meeting to Strengthen Collaboration Among Science Centers in the Kingdom

Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: February 3, 2025

The National Science Centers Initiative, launched by ilmi Science Discovery & Innovation Center, one of the entities affiliated with the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation “Misk,” held its first meeting, hosted by King Salman Science Oasis and attended by a number of scientific entities and centers across the Kingdom.

The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration among national science centers, exchange expertise and best practices, and discuss shared challenges and opportunities, contributing to maximizing impact and achieving the strategic objectives of the scientific and educational sector in the Kingdom.

The first meeting served as a foundational step toward building a national platform that brings science centers together under a shared collaborative framework. The platform aims to support integration among entities, develop programs and initiatives, and expand community reach through inspiring scientific and educational experiences.

The meeting addressed several topics related to advancing the work of science centers, including strengthening partnerships, improving the quality of visitor experiences, exchanging knowledge in the fields of non-traditional education, and exploring ways to develop joint initiatives that promote scientific culture and nurture curiosity across different segments of society.

This initiative reflects ilmi Center’s commitment to supporting the science and innovation ecosystem in the Kingdom by building effective bridges of collaboration among centers and relevant entities. It also aligns with Saudi Vision 2030’s objectives to develop human capabilities, strengthen the knowledge economy, and equip future generations with the tools of the future.

Through the National Science Centers Initiative, ilmi Center also seeks to unify efforts and exchange successful experiences among science centers, enhancing the efficiency of joint work and opening broader horizons for developing educational and interactive programs, while raising awareness of the importance of science, technology, and innovation.

King Salman Science Oasis’s hosting of the initiative’s first meeting underscores the importance of integration among national science centers and their shared role in building an innovative knowledge-based society capable of keeping pace with future transformations and contributing to the achievement of national development goals.
