ilmi is a new, unique approach to informal STREAM learning that uses co-creation to encourage engagement and ensure resonance with its audiences. ilmi will be a virtual and physical center incubated by the Mohammed Bin Salman Foundation “Misk” as a subsidiary and operating in partnership with Mohammed Bin Salman Nonprofit City.

ilmi provides interactive, immersive, and responsive learning programming designed according to what learners want and need. Planned permanent exhibits designed through ilmi’s approach will be based around three core themes – Our World, Our Selves, and Our Inventions – and will focus on subjects including space, ecosystems, and AI. The Center will also host a variety of co-created installations, events, talks, performances, and learning-partner programs designed to build a new STREAM community in the Kingdom.

ilmi will offer an integrated digital platform combined with a series of live learning experiences across Saudi Arabia. These will go live in summer 2023 and aim to get young people, parents, families, and friends of all abilities excited and engaged in STREAM prior to the opening of ilmi’s physical home.

ilmi’s objective is to be a leading, fully accessible science discovery and innovation center that enables young and lifelong learners of all abilities and backgrounds across Saudi Arabia to realize their full potential.

ilmi is incubated and supported by the Mohammed Bin Salman Foundation, “Misk”, operating as a subsidiary.

ilmi Science Discovery & Innovation Center will be situated in the Mohammed Bin Salman Nonprofit City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

How best to help people learn and develop the skills they need is a shared endeavor, and ilmi will work with and contribute to the offerings of science, learning and STREAM institutions in Saudi Arabia and around the world.

At ilmi’s core is a co-creative approach that seeks to develop a qualitative picture of how young people across Saudi Arabia best connect with STREAM subjects.

To achieve this, ilmi will develop programs that continually learn from its learners – informing education and learning experts how young people engage with STREAM content – what excites them, what interests them, how and why they interact with topics in a particular way, and how they might be approaching their engagement differently than before.

Using this insight, with its young audiences, and alongside parents, teachers, employers, artists, scientists, creatives, and entrepreneurs, ilmi will then co-create and prototype a regularly refreshed program of unique STREAM content – ensuring that its learning offering remains relevant to young people as their needs evolve.
